World Mission
Christ Church is deeply committed to the work of World Mission. In 2005, 20% of the income of the church was committed to this work. We support missionaries in a number of countries and also support the training of others. Missionaries are also prayed for in our weekly and monthly prayer meetings. There are several visits each year by Missionaries to the church, as well as return visits by church members who are currently serving on the Mission field. We have also supported the work of an orphanage near Varna, Bulgaria, through prayer, giving and by direct aid such as the building of a toilet block.
God has also brought a mission field to our door in the form of the many international students studying at the language schools of Bournemouth. The church is involved with these students both through the Wellspring café and through the international church, which meets at West Cliff Baptist church. This important work involves mainly Korean, Chinese and Japanese students, but also many other nationalities.
In addition to the support derived from the Christ Church budget, individuals contribute an equal amount to missionaries by giving on a voluntary basis through the church. We are also aware that they pray for and give individually to missionary societies on a large scale. It is also very encouraging that some of our younger members have helped in the Wellspring café and have gone out with missionary societies on short term projects.
