Sunday Evening Teaching Programme

The current (and past) Sunday evening programme is available for download below. All recordings are in MP3 format and can be played directly on your computer.

Current Series: Finishing the race: Hebrews 12

The letter to the Hebrews describes itself as a "word of exhortation", and so it proved to us as we read most of it last year. Now we come to the great, climactic chapter 12: a great stimulus to perseverance.

Current Series: Forgotten heroes (and villains!)

2 Chronicles must be one of the most unexplored books of the Bible - but there is treasure here! Packed with largely-forgotten stories (including some very tight corners), it is not just a history book but digs into our hearts, showing us what wholehearted Christian living looks like, and above all encourages us, by showing us the true hero of the story - the living God.

Current Series: What we're about

Two talks on God's purpose for His people and their striking implications to help us grow in vision as a church.

Past Series: Face to face with Christ: John 9-13

Over the centuries people have come up with many different ideas and explanations of Jesus. People today tell us its all just a matter of interpretation. How refreshing, then, to get back to John's first-hand account. As we encounter the real Jesus on his final journey to Jerusalem, we will be surprised and invigorated by the unadorned truth. John wrote to build us up in our faith, and also to present Jesus to non-Christian enquirers. Our Sunday evenings will also be for both purposes.

Past Series: Noah: Genesis 6-9

At Advent we think of the return of Christ. The Bible tells us that we already have a model of what to expect, in the event of the Flood.

Past Series: The Bible-driven church: 1 Timothy

What would an Apostle of Jesus say our priorities should be as a church? What matters and what doesn't? What should our approach be to practicalities like leadership, preaching, money, feminism, practical care and more? The genius of the New Testament is that a letter written for a particular situation (in this case from Paul to Timothy) is God's word for us today. Seldom studied, 1 Timothy includes a verse recently voted, "the least popular in the Bible"!

Past Series: Amos

In the book of Amos, the Lord calls the nations to account for their injustice and contempt for the poor. But through Amos, the Lord also calls his own people to account. Come to be challenged, inspired and changed!

Past Series: The cross and Christian giving: 2 Corrinthians 8-9

The cross is the greatest piece of generosity in history. How should this affect us?

Past Series: Our Great High Priest: Hebrews

The book of Hebrews describes itself as a "Word of Encouragement", and so it is, showing us our great High Priest, the Lord Jesus Christ. But its message isn't just something nice. It's vital...

Past Series: Christmas for grown-ups: Luke 1-2

We look together at the bits of the Christmas story we hear less often - and their powerful lessons about God, Christ and us.

Past Series: Why me? - Job

Why does a good God allow innocent suffering? This is a question we ask throughout our lives as we see loved ones suffer and as we suffer ourselves. In the book of Job we find humbling answers to such a perplexing question.

These books contain challenge and encouragement to wholehearted living for the honour of God's name.

Following on from our morning series on the book of acts, we rejoin Paul in Ephesus - a place of danger and opportunity.

We continue our series in Daniel. The second half of the book is a look behind the scenes of history to the God who is absolutely in control - and who tells his people what to expect.

Past Series: Partners in the Gospel - Philippians

The Christians at Philippi, Greece, had a special place in the Apostle Paul's heart. He writes from prison to encourage them to keep working as partners together to help others know Jesus. What did Paul say?

Past Series: Through all the changing scenes of life - some famous Psalms

The Psalms show us what it's really like knowing the living God - in all its various facets.

Past Series: The good, the bad and the ugly - 1 Kings

It's Israel, 900BC, and things are going badly wrong. Where is God, and what is he doing? Follow the action as we explore some unfamiliar territory...

Past Series: Life without Jesus - John 13-16

The evening before he died, Jesus knew his disciples were about to face a situation which would be very challenging: life withoug him. So he taught them what to expect and explained the special way he would help them, by the holy spirit, whom the father would send. This is vital teaching for us about how to live through Christian life until Christ returns.
